Balkan Bites Food Tour - Krystal Garden, Sofia, Bulgaria

Balkan Bites is an attempt at providing travellers to Sofia with the first free daily food tour in Europe and maybe the world. The idea is to take a tour of some of the more interesting and trendy family owned restaurants that Sofia has to offer and enjoy some traditional bulgarian cuisine, while hearing about some of the history and customs that helped make them become staple foods in Bulgaria, by our trained guides.

The tour itself is a walking tour that starts at 2 pm everyday (excluding national holidays) at Park Crystal in front of the big head statue of Stefan Stambolov. Although reservations are not needed, they do guaranty you a spot on the tour if you arrive before 2pm. The duration is about 2 1/2 hours and the food samples that are presented to the participants are free of charge.

Communist Walking Tour of Sofia - Palace Of Justice, bulevard "Vitosha", Sofia, Bulgaria

[TripAdvisor]: Communist Tour welcomes its guests every Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 4 pm in front of the Palace of Justice in Sofia. The tour includes the main landmarks of communist history in the city of Sofia: former headquarters of the Bulgarian Communist Party, secret police investigation facility, destroyed mausoleum, monument of the Soviet army, National Palace of Culture, among others. During the 3-3.5-hour-long walking tour you will learn about the theory of communism, what Marxism-Leninism is, the history of communism in Bulgaria, the pros and cons of the period and the relation between the communist government and religion, industry, economy, culture and everyday life of the people.

Free Sofia Tour (A Must!) - Palace Of Justice, bulevard "Vitosha", Sofia, Bulgaria

A free English language sightseeing walking tour of Bulgaria's capital, organized by a non-profit organization. It happens twice a day, every day, at 11am and 6pm and lasts for roughly 2 hours.
