Drinks & Nightlife

Bar Petak (Bar) - ul. "General Yosif V. Gourko" 21, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria

Petak means Friday - and Bar Petak is the place to be on a Friday night. The bar holds a variety of social and cultural events, so you never know what to expect. Great place to meet locals, dance, drink and socialize. No dress code but don't go wearing flip flops.

Bar Sputnik - bul. "Yanko Sakazov" 17, 1527 Sofia, Bulgaria

Now here's an idea - have dinner at Raketa Rakia Bar (also in the guide) and then crawl over to neighbor next door - Sputnik bar. The end result? A tipsy time travel to the funnily bright side of the Communist era...yes, that place doesn't really exist, but if you put a slight humorous twist to these ages you could walk away with a very cool experience - and that's the goal of these two bars/restaurants.

By The Way (Cocktails) - ulitsa „Georgi S. Rakovski“ 166, Sofia, Bulgaria

By the way, the best cocktails in town are at By The Way, which is right on Broadway. Clarification: Broadway is the nickname of Rakovski Street in Sofia and the name of the bar serving the best cocktails is "By The Way". Just our sense of humor (or lack thereof) getting in the way there...:)
Carrusel (Nightclub) - ulitsa „Georgi S. Rakovski“ 108, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria
A pretty popular club, both with locals and foreigners. The music varies, but you can expect commercial house/trance or hip hop on some nights. It's open on weekends and Thursdays after 11pm. If you go before 00:30 you might be able to find a seat at the bar, but if you want a table or a few seats you need to book at +35987707808 . Face control could get strict - avoid shorts, trainers or flip flops.
J. J. Murphy's (Irish Pub) - ul. "Karnigradska" 6, 1000 Sofia
Traditional Irish pub with beer, food and football. It's a good place to go to if you want to catch a game, but make sure you get there well in advance to grab nice seats.
Memento (Cafe/Bar/Social) - ulitsa "Georgi S. Rakovski" 106, Sofia, Bulgaria
Memento is a cafe and bar located on the Bulgarian Broadway (Rakovski Street). During the day you can enjoy coffee, tea or some snacks (and why not a glass of wine or a cocktail, you are on holiday after all!:)) As the evening approaches the music will become louder, more people would come and they will stop serving hot drinks... When it's warm outside this is the bar-to-be-in in the city. We call it "the beach bar" but hey, don't expect a beach on Broadway!
Keep in mind there's another Memento, located in the National Palace of Culture (NDK). It's also pretty cool!
One More Bar (Cocktails/Social) - ul. "Tsar Shishman" 12, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria
At night One More Bar is the perfect place for a light conversation after dinner, with excellent cocktails and a nice selection of wines. Mix and mingle with friendly locals under the sound of some funk and jazz in a beautiful townhouse. Casual dress code, casual prices, unpretentious atmosphere. They also serve a pretty good brunch on weekends!
Park Bar (Cafe/Bar/Snacks)
A popular street cafe/bar, ideal for a quick bite during the day or afterwork drinks. It's located right by Sofia University so expect a younger crowd.
RocknRolla (Nightclub/Rock) - ul. "Graf Ignatiev" 1, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria
Well that's a unique place! Not only because they play rock music, but also because it attracts a cool diverse crowd. Sound quality is very good and so are the cocktails! The staff will most likely party with you, but they tend to maintain good service even in the early hours after so many shots...those guys are pros! No bookings needed, just go!
Rooftop Bar @ Sense Hotel - bul. "Tsar Osvoboditel" 16, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria
This is by far the best rooftop bar in town with an amazing view over the National Assembly and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Chic and classy, it offers a good selection of coctails, wine and spirits. It's open daily till from 10.00 to 2.00am. Keep in mind there is a dress code and you usually can't go in shorts or flip flops. Reservations are recommended, especially if you are going in the evening on a weekend. Call them at +359884544108
Sofia Live Club (Jazz/Live Music) - National Palace of Culture, Sofia, Bulgaria
Ah, the heart of live music in Sofia in the heart our National Palace of Culture! On a regular night you can expect jazz, but regular nights are less than 50% in Sofia Live Club, so prepare to be surprised. Quite a few world famous musicians have tested out the top notch sound system of the club, which always attracts a nice crowd. Bookings are necessary if there's a guest appearance. Call +359886661045
Terminal 1 (Nightclub) - ul. "Angel Kanchev" 1, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria
3 bars, 2 floors..and 1 Terminal!
Club Terminal 1 is situated in very center of Sofia and has a unique interior inspired by the alternative music that is mostly played in it. On the first floor you'll find foosball tables and electronic games, allowing you to challenge a tipsy buddy to a game of something - doesn't really matter what you are playing after midnight. Expect all styles of music, all sorts of people and all kinds of cocktails.
